D说的是文中主干是the impacts caused 啥，啥，啥和啥。如果continent放在前面，就必须要有动词created，否自没意义。我感觉这个还是看平行把，和前后对比做的

impacts 导致的是地理现象的变化，而不是地理现象本身。
continents是地理现象，spliting才是变化。

这个地方考的是动宾的逻辑搭配。

这种问题有考过同类的：

Possible long-term consequences of the “greenhouse effect,” the gradual warming of the Earth’s climate, may include melting the polar ice caps and a rising sea level.

A. may include melting the polar ice caps and a rising sea level

B. may include the melting of polar ice caps and the rising sea level

C. may include polar ice caps that are melting and sea levels that are rising

解释的意思是，如果真的要说impact导致了大陆，就应该用create这个词。因为你不能说 cause continents, 搭配不当，含义也不对。你不觉得“导致了大陆”很怪吗。从语义上来说，导致的对象应该是一个结果，而不是“大陆”这个概念。

但我觉得cause的不是continents，而是 continents的split apart 啊。
就像句子“This movie made me cry.”不是movie made 我这个人，二是导致了我的哭啊。
能不能再麻烦谁给我解释下啊。

首先要明白D选项的意思，D选项其实就是一个名字continent (that was split apart), 明白了？然后再去看OG的解释，在看看LS几位NN的解释。。。明白了？

其实OG说了这么一大堆...不就是要找个名词形式来表达一个动作嘛...
或者说找一个事件的名词嘛（因为只有事件能被caused）

看旁边并列的东西reversals，onset， eruptions，这些都是caused的宾语。看到题目知道要找split的名词就对了，没有就用动名词the spliting

cause做动词时一个用法是cause sb to do,而D中的直接是caused continents split apart说明这里的split不是一个动词，再查split这个词过去式和过去分词是一个形式，所以这里的split apart实际上市动词split的过去分词形式，做宾语补足语。
所以这样看下来，D的意思就成了impacts caused continents
而在逻辑上大路应该是被产生的(create)而不应该是引起的(cause),所以D才会这么解释.

真心理解不了OG这句话

首先，这里除了created绝不是OG提出来的alternative，因为OG解释中所有的引用都是斜体字。

我刚看的时候以为，D选项，是一个陈述句continents split apart，说明了一件事情的发生，所以OG的那句话是说，如果impact真的发生了引起了什么，才能用一个created的verb来说，这里created做过去分词修饰verb。就是说，If the impacts truly caused continents，（逗号）一个起动词作用的动词才能够使用。

但后来上网一搜讨论贴发现，那种理解也不对。
那么OG这句解释的话究竟怎么理解啊？？？

补充下cause的用法：

表示“使”、“迫使”，通常接不定式的复合结构作宾语，注意不要受动词 make 的影响而用错句型。比较：

是什么使她哭了?

正：What caused her to cry? / What made her cry?

误：What caused her cry [crying]? / What made her to cry?

这个坏消息使她伤心。

正：The bad news caused her to be sad.

正：The bad news made her sad.

误：The bad news caused her sad.

所以这里continents split apart 中 split apart是分词后置做定语
