three offers: University of Texas-Austin, University of Maryland, UIUC. UIUC financial package is greatly competitive (25000 per year) and some students there have published their papers in the Journal of Finance. UT-Ausin has a big shot like Sheridan Titman and he showed great interest in working with me on China's cases. Maryland only offers 17505 per year but seems to have solid network with famous organizations like world bank and federal reserve... Where to go? Which is more important: location, the faculty-student relationship, the network or being free with tangible financial aid....
I think UT austin is better since you are going to work for a big shot. it is so much easier for your paper to be published if your advisor is famous. you will need that to find a great job.
In terms of financial aid, I think none of them will give you trouble. the number may be different, but you have to realize different school charge you different tuition, on campus housing, etc. I think money is the least you should worry about.
In terms of world bank/fedral reserve, it sounds good to have them in your city, but will you have a chance to do research for them is a different story. Many of these organizations grant money all over the country.
