(B) penitentiaries were ideas for reform of the penal system suggested by Quakers

选C答案.

答案米有问题. 偶也选出来了. 可是这个D选项觉得很不舒服. 很难排除. 这个D错在哪里呐???是不是单复数的问题?

请求指教. 多谢

我认为是单复数的问题，the penal system 应该对应penitentiary, 单对单，而且意思好像也不对，penitentiary 好像是the penal system 的一个子集，D有使二者在范围上对等的意味。

还有请问SUGGEST用于建议的时候一定是虚拟后面用WOULD和SHOULD吗

C句意思是用A的形式取代B，

D句意思是把B当作A进行改造。

suggest 后面直接用原形

我同意jnlvo的说法，一个system应该由多个penitentiaries组成,D用复数没错

这题偶也错了，郁闷。

google了一下，penitentiaries和penitentiary都可以。suggest...as 也有很多。接下来唯一可以做判断依据的就是句子的意思啦。不知道有没有选c的NN们可不可以帮忙解释一下。

不死心，又做了一下research.虽然penitentiary单复数都可以用，但是解释为监狱制度的话，好像应该是单数。这样的话就可以帮助偶们解释这题为什么c比d好了。

根据开头 Repelled by bodily punishments...

是否把penitentiar 做主语more reasonable??

Otherwise, bodily punishments repell somebody 不通啊!

Repelled by..., Quakers... 意指 Quakers 對...感到厭惡

repel有厌恶的意思。

repelled就是被”恶心到“差不多的意思。

被肉体刑法所恶心到，贵格教徒提倡.....

(C) Quakers suggested the penitentiary as a reform of the penal system （建议penitentiaries作为刑罚系统的一部分：言下之意可能还有比如罚款，剥夺政治权利等）

(D) Quakers suggested that the penal system be reformed as penitentiaries（建议刑法系统由penitentiaries组成，逻辑意思不通）（C）

个人感觉这里的suggest 是consider和think的意思用as 说的通，而且不该用虚拟
