(A) less than they did

(B) less than it did

(D) lower than

(E) lower than they were
正确答案是A。我选的D。不是有规定，说在比较句中，如主谓结构相同，则主谓可省，只保留状语从句或介词短语么。

例如：i work harder than i worked in the past。=i work harder than in the past。但为什么D不对呢？期待解答~~~~

首先省略要在意义明确的情况下
当然这题还是比较明确的
由于选择的是最优选项 LOW很少用
这里A明显比较好能省最好不省也可以
不是CORRECTNESS的判断

个人觉得这题省略的部分是(the percentge by which) they did( rise), 从逻辑意义上来看，比较的对象是两个年度的增长率
