选C。我的问题是absorbing 有没有修饰主句主语的歧义呢？感谢同学指教。

啊哦， sorry，是对错答案了，我想问的是absorbing and protecting是修饰 rocks 吧？但是会不会有修饰句子主语the Army Corps of Engineers 的歧义的问题？感谢楼上四位热心的同学

是不是absorbing作伴随结果就不需要考虑其逻辑主语啦，只有当作伴随动作的时候才要考虑是哪个主语发出的，求证。

选C。我的问题是absorbing 有没有修饰主句主语的歧义呢？感谢同学指教。

我觉得没可能absorbing会修饰the Army Corps。一，the Army Corps absort ...完全句意不对，二，从GMAT的modifier的角度来看，absorbing是修饰紧接其前的句子，前面句子的解释、意思延伸的作用。所以应该是修饰a breakwater of rocks that would act as a buffer的。另一方面从GMAT的modifier考点来看的话，modifier离the Army Corps有多远够多远，不可能是GMAT句子的风格。如果硬要改成GMAT风格的话，我认为是应该是这样的了：
Absorbing the energy of crashing waves and protecting the beaches, the Army Corps of Engineers proposed building
parallel to shore a breakwater of rocks that would rise。这个句子句意完全不对了。
six feet above the waterline and act as a buffer

另外，从平行结构出发，absorbing 和 protecting平行，共同修饰rocks

这里 absorbing 和 protecting 怎么是修饰ROCK? 应该修饰最近的buffer 吧？
有点糊涂了，还是修饰 building???

这道题无须考虑修饰什么，就是伴随结果，不用考虑逻辑主语。
