B中的or不对，用and还说得过去；而且后面的as to也不对，应该是to。

选D说明完全没理解题意，题目说Research发现一种soil是理想的建筑材料，因为它既不。。。。又不。。。。

楼上说的对，这个题目很狡猾的。一看D 对细想就是A对了

D，表达的是和什么东西一样硬或者和什么东西一样软，
题目意思是太硬了以至于怎么样。
完全不是一个意思就对了。

D的意思没有不对啊，也是说既没有太硬以至于，，也没有太软以至于
只不过不知道as adj as to这个是不是idiomatic的，单从意思上不能判断吧
