ＣＳＳＡ的朋友： 您好！我收到了ＷＰＩ的ＭＳ in Operations Design & Leadership的录取通知．我有几个关于这个课程的问题想问，谢谢！ １．这个课程是１年还是２年的？我在学校的网站上看到国际学生是一年１８个学分（Full-time status is 18 credits per year, or $19,602），按这样算的话，这个３５个学分的课程我是要读２年吗？（其实，我也想读两年，毕竟觉得一年时间太短．） ２．我获得了ＧＡ，就是一年４８００的那种，我想问，第一年实际要花多少钱．（住在学校，不买车，正常花消的前提下，学费按$1,089 per credit hour，一年１８个学分来算） ３．在录取通知书里，写ＧＡ的内容是＂the student working with a management faculty member in a research or administrative capacity＂，那具体的内容是干什么的呢？（我怕自己的阅读速度刚去到的时候跟不上，要是research的话，一下子给我看paper，我恐怕会没法完成．） ４．呃．．．．．．还有就是很实际的就业的问题了．说下就业率和平均薪酬吧，就您知道的说下．谢谢！ ５．这个课程大概招多少人？有多少中国人？ 谢谢您的帮助！ a perspective student 7/2/2009
Hello, I applied for the master's degree. I just receive the admission from WPI. I have some questions. 1. Graduate students live on campus or off campus? How much do they spend on housing each month? Do they find the house before they come to WPI or after? 2. I cannot enter BBS. Is there any access for me to contact cssa? 3. WPI gave me the admission without financial support. Is that possible for me to become RA or TA? Or have some financial support?
1. Graduate students live off campus. Most of us find housing on our own around campus after arriving at Worcester. Most houses or apartments require leases (with different length in time, but normally more than 5 months), while there are also some without lease requirement, which means you can go any time and the landlord can also kick you out any time
Or you can apply for the properties owned by WPI around its campus which are mainly for Graduate students. Those houses don't require lease and would be paid on a monthly basis. Generally speaking, the school housing is a good choice. But you need to apply and wait in a line to get one.
2. As far as I know, there is no BBS for us or you. If you want to reach CSSA, email is the way.
3. Financial aid for graduate students highly depends on individual department. So it's better for you to specify your major and departments so that people from your department could help.
For your information, your email to cssa@wpi.edu will always reach every Chinese graduate student at WPI. I happened to be checking my email when I saw your email came. It's better for you to get in contact with one or some specific persons from your department so that they can answer your questions with better knowledge. That is why I asked you to provide this information.
