设Ts为Springfield总旅客人数，Th为Harristown总旅客人数。S1为文中提到的Springfield里的那家旅馆，H1为Harristown中的那家旅馆Royal Arms Hotel。则以下三个条件均成立：

1）Ts > Th；
2）S1 < H1。
3）Ts = S1 + S2 + ... + SN;
4）Th = H1 + H2 + ... + HN；

若以上几个条件均成立，则可以推导出 S2 + ... + SN >> H2 + ... + HN。这里的符号>>表示远大于，即S市其他的旅馆收留的旅客数应远大于H市的其他旅馆。

按以上的推导可以很容易得出B选项是错误的，因为会导致S2 + ... + SN = 0。
