标题: Help: OG12 CR16- premium product: why B not C
16. Which of the following best completes the passage below?
People buy prestige when they buy a premium product. They want to be associated with something special.Mass-marketing techniques and price-reduction strategies should not be used because______________
A) affluent purchasers currently represent a shrinking portion of the population of all purchasers
B)continued sales depend directly on the maintenance of an aura of exclusivity
C)purchasers of premium products are concerned with the quality as well as with the price of the products


My initial choice is C.
But the answer given is B.     My question is why is B pefereable than C?   and what is the wrong with the explaination in C?

这道题的关键是最后一句话Mass-marketing techniques and price-reduction strategies should not be used 即不能用大众营销和减价策略原因是什么了,要紧扣题
C说因为买奢侈品的人(题目是昂贵的产品说奢侈品好理解些)既关心质量又关心价格。(这个是大众营销的特点,所以不是原因)
B说持续的销售直接依赖于对客户独有尊贵感的维系。(正好是奢侈品销售有别于大众销售的原因)

我一开始也选了C
后来发现这题有点像support的题型
于是做的时候找到关键在于前提“用户想要special 和prestige”
和结论“Mass-marketing techniques and price-reduction strategies should not be used to appeal customer”
B中,sales的持续(也就是持续吸引顾客)取决于给顾客提供exclutivity=special+prestige,而mass-marketing削弱了SPECIAL,price-reduction削弱了PRESTIGE,所以以上两项策略不能用。刚好将前提和结论之间的gap给缩小了
而C中提到用户注意quality和价格,quality和special不是一会儿事,所以quality就成了无关项。

其实最悲催的像我这样的是即使做题时看懂是啥意思也不会选。当时就纠结这个continued sales是个啥玩意,钻牛角尖,死活不选它。
