In 1986, the city of Los Diablos had 20 days on which air pollution reached unhealthful amounts and a smog alert was put into effect. In early 1987, new air pollution control measures were enacted, but the city had smog alerts on 31 days that year and on 39 days the following year. In 1989, however, the number of smog alerts in Los Diablos dropped to sixteen. The main air pollutants in Los Diablos are ozone and carbon monoxide, and since 1986 the levels of both have been monitored by gas spectrography.

我知道是least helpful, 找不支持的, 但我实在很困扰这个B选项是正确答案。解释1986-1989, 如果是这样, 那么其他选项也有嫌疑没有解释完整这段时间的变化.所以我感觉重点不再这上面.

所以,希望大家可以给我讲一下该题你们的思考过程.....谢谢了..

我不是牛啊我的理解是，这道其实是解释题，解释文章中的paradox，题目的重心是 explaining the air pollution levels。
B中说发明出来了更准确的gas spectrography，但之前的gas spectrography是高估还是低估污染物的数字并不知道

其实我倒是比较纠结于B & D 两项, 如果让我选我会选D,

B 只是说一个新的被研发出来, 但是没有说几时投入使用, 所以不能解释论点矛盾.
D 说了市长把其中一些企业剔除了, 但是并没有说这些企业产生很多(ozone and carbon monoxide).

D的意思是市长收到很多来自大企业的捐款,因此他使这些工业企业不再受空气污染法案的限制. 隐含的意思就是自1988市长收到钱以后,空气污染程度更大了

这个与题目意思相反了吧

对于B,我的想法和2L一样 B选项既不支持也不反对,基本就是句废话

我对D的理解是~他使这些工业企业不再受空气污染法案的限制，计算smog alert的数字时就不再计算这些大企业的，这便能解释1989年数字下降的情况。不管这些企业的污染物数量是否大，市长的这个举措都对smog alert产生影响了。所以不同意楼上说的，不是空气污染程度的问题

我觉得B说的有了更好的spec为什么不能解释呢；又正好是在1988年12月。
我真的是很困惑A。。

text中说1986年smog alert的数字是31 1987年39 到1989年下降到16
题目的意思就是要解释这个变化
B说更好的spec，那么以前的spec就是不够精确，那以前的设备是高估smog alert这个数字还是低估了呢？如果原来是高估了，说明原来smog alert的数字本身就比31、39低，能够解释1989年数字的骤降。但如果是低估了，说明实际的数字比31、39还要高，就不能解释这个现象了

至于A text中说In early 1987, new air pollution control measures were enacted 只是说new measures被制定出来了还没说被实施 A说1988这个measure实施了更好的控制了污染物的排放所以smog alert的数字也下降了
