正确答案是d。但是我觉得c的比较好。it可以做形式主语，指代that后面的东西。为什么c不对呢？请指教。

请牛人能否总结下it到底应该放那个位置？怎么用？

C 的 by their using ... 错了
use本身有名词形式，就不用-ing分词来做名词成分了。
而且C的which从句中强调的是goods，而D中强调的是production，根据逻辑意思来看D更加合适一些。

这里 it 指代的是the mass production of manufactured goods.
GMAT里，只有在真正的词出现以后，才能用代词指代
所以这里不能在 the mass production of manufactured goods 出现在句子之前就用 it 指代

C里的it是想当形式主语来用的，后面的that才是真正的主语，这种前后出现的顺序是可以的。

嗯嗯有道理
这里的 it 不是代词，是形式主语

请教一下sayysong：在一个动词有名词的情况下，用v.ing，是不是大多数都是错的？

要看做什么成分了，如果是想强调动作性的，比如介词短语中，那么by using ... 就比 by the use of ... 要好
如果是想强调动作的结果，状态等，那么就直接使用名词比较好。
还要看结构对称，如果与之对称的其他部分都是用的动名词，那么也要用动名词来保持结构上的一致。
