(B) small cars that are more fuel-efficient than they were at any time in their

(D) more fuel-efficient small cars than those at any other time in their（C）

(E) more fuel-efficient small cars now than at any time in

为什么E，介宾语短语比较不对？

下面这题，比较介宾短信就对呢：

359. In 1990’s, there are more babies born by women over thirty years old than under it.

(A) than under it

(B) than were they under it

(D) than were the babies（A）

(E) than those were under it

875题,

(e) 有歧意, that suggests means is : more fuel--efficient small cars today than less fuel--efficient small cars in production history.

but , for 359 题,

(e)同样有歧意,and i do not think the ( A) is reasonable answer ,but the best .answer..

so i think we should choice the answer depend on the fact situation.

     1。比较最好不要在介词短语中比较，OG中屡屡提到这个问题

     2。359比较的还是句子，只不过是省略了。并不是介词短语比较

     3。875的E选项显然比较不对等

875,C是正确答案，但是those仍然可能指代manufactures或small cars.

如何判断呢？请NN指点迷津。

make sth.是可以的。They make cars。 that是定语从句。

问题是C的those指代谁？

875的E的问题就是歧义，是“数量多了”还是“更省油了”搞不清楚

359的E的问题是要想正确表达需在those前补上by

同意楼上的，题意想做比较的是更省油，而E表达的是更多的车

明白了，这题要是拿给美国人来做，肯定搞定，正是因为这种语言环境的障碍。所以得多读多想多问。。。

A为什么错？是因为里面的their指代不清吗？我觉得这个their不管是指manufactures 还是指small cars，都是合理的，没有歧义。

这本身不就是有歧义么？没有歧义就是‘只指代这个而不可能指代那个’。

in history表达的是一段时期，而at time表达的是一点时间，所以at any time in production history表达的是‘在长长历史长河中的任何一点时间’；

A的错误首先就是their的指代不清；其次是比较对象混乱，A中比较的是两个时代，但是主语却都是today's technology，逻辑上不通。

A, B, D的their，就近优先指small cars', 这样表达in small cars' production history似乎不合习惯，感觉in small cars production history好些，这里small cars 省去不会产生歧义或意思表达不清。

因为比较的对象变成了cars。。。。不能随意更改比较对象---------白勇语法经常强调的
