个人意见： 1. 那该缺失介词翻译成“通过...”更好时，应该用through，翻译成“凭...，借助...，(使)用...”更好时则应该用by. 如： She got her first job through an employment agency. 她通过招聘机构找到了第一份工作。 a success that was achieved through co-operative effort and wise leadership 通过合作努力和英明的领导 I heard about it through a friend. 通过一个朋友得知。 You can reserve the tickets by phone. 你可以用电话来订票。 He was taken from his home by force. 他被用武力带出家里。 My house is heated by/with gas. 用天然气保暖. I'll pay you by check. 用支票付账 2. 当感觉即可以翻译成“通过...”，也可以翻译成凭借...，(使)用...”，则用两个都可以： She earns her living by/through selling insurance. 本题by和through都可以。 3. 当翻译过来两者都可以时，要注意by修饰的是实义动词，因为描述的是某个行为的方式、手段，因此如果前面是系动词，就需要用on/with这些介词来代替。 The tickets are available through/on the Internet (or just on-line). 介词部分既可以用“通过网上订票”也可以以“用/在网络上订票”来翻译，但by修饰实义动词，所以应该用on代替，或者用through。作者: 果汁软糖 时间: 2009-11-30 20:26
