答案是C，就是有一点不明白，为什么C最后用there were, 我觉得应该用there was吧，不懂它这个复数从哪儿来的。

there were 后表four years ago的状态，不一定是1 for every 128，而更可能是10 for 1280。fficeffice" />

句子前面说现在32人一台机器, (机器数量)是4年前的4倍. 如果是单数, 则原句变为4 times as many as there is (one computer for …), 句子只能勉强理解成以前一台机器8人用. 意思完全不对.ffice

前面的there is 虽然是单数，但表示的是总体状况，所以后面应该用复数表示。前后一致。

这里如用there was，认为是"there was one microcomputer for every    *** pupils", 不合逻辑，已经four times as many as 了，怎么还会是四年前几人一台微机，所以只能用there were表示总体。

其它例句：

While 18 per cent of the high-tech workplace is filled with women, that's half as many as there were 25 years ago。

The number of registered voters in the county is 18,058, almost twice as many as there were four years ago .
