第二题的B错在哪里呢？

第一题考it 代词。

句中的it指代不清，应该摒弃。选D。B选项IT也指代混乱。

第二题考主谓关系

主语是youth canorous 宾语是个男的GEORGE。

所以不能用分词，那样youth can。。。成candidate了。故而选择稍繁复的从句，用because引导因果关系的状语从句。说明george……

这个解释的好：“A, B, and E are wrong right away, because they're misplaced modifiers: they don't have subjects, and so must modify the noun immediately following. in all 3 cases, that following noun is 'the Y.C.', while the modifier is clearly meant to refer to 'George'.
of the other two, choice D is wrong because of incorrect idiomatic usage (you can't eliminate 'to be' from 'seemed to be the only...'). “

第1题中，because 引导的原因状语从句不能做主语。
第二题，句子开头的内容直接修饰逗号后面的内容，但逻辑上应该修饰Gorge,所以需要用he 指代。
