我觉得D的对比的部分不对称吧

全句主要说明两个意思：1，面积L的面积和GB一样；2，L的人很少。
many...这句话是用来补充说明第二点only four million in population的，用and连接后会把全句的main claims/emphasis改为3个，从而改变句意，第三个就是and后的内容。
