100. One way to judge the performance of a company is to compare it with other companies. This technique, commonly called "benchmarking", permits the manager of a company to discover better industrial practices and provide a justification for the adoption of goog pratices.

Any of the following, if true, is a valid reason for benchmarking the performance of a company against companies with which it is not in competition rather than against competitors EXCEPT:

(A) Comparisons with competitors are most likely to focus on practices that the manager making the comparisons already employs.

(B) Getting "inside" information ablout the unique practices of competitors is particularly difficult.

(C) Since companies that compete with each other are likely to have comparable levels of efficiency, only benchmarking against noncompetitors is likely to reveal practices that would aid in beating competitors.

(D) Managers are generally more receptive to new dieas that they find outside their own industry.

(E) Much of the success of good companies is due to their adoption of practices that take advantage of the special circumstances of their products or markets.

这题首先我自己都觉得问题理解起来都困难，看完文章后我就用紧扣元素法选了C，但答案是E，理解不了。这题属于什么类型题呢？是削弱吗？

求哪位大牛能帮我大概翻译一下题目与文章还有正确选项和我错选的项，该用什么思路求解？万分感谢。

benchmarking是一种比较公司之间的technique,一搬做成一张表，raw就写各个方面的因素，比如marketing,location,organization等要比较的方面，column就写campany1,2,3....可以给各个公司就每一项具体打分，最后算个总分进一步比较分析

这一题是说，一种比较各个公司之间的工具是benchmarking,这种方法可以让manager discover better industrial practices and provide a justification for the adoption of goog pratices

问题问，下面那一项是benchmarking不是comany的competitor的理由，除了。。。。（就是说与非competitor比较，而不是和competitor比较）

C选项说competitors之间有类似的efficiency,只有和非competitor进行比较借鉴，才有可能打败现在的competitor,这个选项说明了benchmarking非competitor的原因，所以不能选

下列哪项是benchmarking适用于非竞争者而不是竞争者的原因：（EXCEPT）

C选项说：同行竞争者间有太多的共同点，几乎无法借鉴；只有非同行间才有很多不同，值得借鉴的很多。

所以就要找出应用于非竞争者中的advantages，或者是应用于竞争者的disadvantages。C选项是最准确的一个！

而E选项说了应用于竞争者advantages，和问题问的截然相反！

答案是E
問題問 : 哪一個選項是manager應該和"非"競爭公司學習的情況, "除了" 哪一個原因(選項)之外？
在負負得正的推演後, 問題得為 : 哪一個選項是 manager應該和競爭者公司學習的情況。
A~D 選都應該 learn from noncompetitors, 只有E選是應該跟competitor公司學習(因為競爭公司特殊的環境跟市場符合產業內的狀況, 所以最值得adopt)

這題我也錯, 關鍵應該是問題很繞, 但是問題搞懂之後選項應該就容易選了！

我觉得，E不一定是competitor的比较吧？它是一个无关选项。它说“许多好公司成功的原因，是它们针对公司产品或产品市场的特殊性，采取了特定措施”，而题目问的却是“为什么与行业外的公司比较，而不与业内公司比较？”E选项只解释了诸多公司成功的原因，与benchmark并无关联。因此，是一个无关选项。。。

一个公司应该和competitor处于同一个special circumstance，和non competitor处于不同的circumstance--->如果只有利用special circumstance才能采取那些good companies用过的practices--->这个公司就应该以competitor为benchmark《====所以这题中实际还是相反的
