标题: [求助]模考时的一道题：tend和can并列？

模考时遇到的一道题，想不明白，prep没找到，对照着软件手打出来

A scrub jay can remember when it cached a particular piece of food in a particular place,researchers have discovered,and tend not to bother to recover a perishable treat if stored long enough to have rotted.

A. tend not to bother to recover a perishable treat if

B.they tend not to bother recovering a perishable treat

C.tending not to bother to recover a perishable treat it

D.tends not to bother recovering a perishable treat

E.tends not bothering to recover a perishable treat it

我选的是A，tend和remember对应

但是答案是D，怎么也不知道tends和什么并列

另外求 bother的用法，+to do?+doing?

请高手回答！

researchers have discovered是插入语，省去不看，整个句子就是A scrub jay can remember when it cached a particular piece of food in a particular place and tends not to bother recovering a perishable treat . tends的主语还是A scrub jay

那这句话就根本不存在并列一说咯？难不成tends和can并列

黑体是一起的, 横线的插入语

can 是情态动词, tend 是动词

不是can remember and can tend, 意思多别扭啊

tend to do sth

tend not to bother torecover a perishable treat if stored long enoughto have rotted这个关键在于后面，if stored 省略了主语，默认为主语是主句主语，所以逻辑上变成了鸟被store了

先看题目，说A scrub jay can干嘛干嘛，然后插入了一下，and干嘛干嘛。

一看到and，我们就像看到亲人一样，马上选择平行结构的思路。但是ETS最重要的思路还是逻辑关系（这点有大N的心经为证），这题选项里没有can，那么就找动词原形来满足平行的话，and后面半个句子其实变成了can tend to，显得很奇怪。而且选项A中最后还带了一个if，并且后面没有主语，因此stored只能用来修饰主句的主语A scrub jay，逻辑意思不对。因为我们知道stored long enoughto have rotted是修饰a perishable treat的。

另外，补充一点。bother to do和bother doing是都可以的，但是前面有了一个tend to do，再加另外一个动词不定式显得重复而且不好看，所以选择了bother doing。这点在我们平时写作的时候，也有帮助吧。

researchers have discovered 有主有谓，为什么可以做插入语？一个句子不是不可以有两套主谓么？为什么都没有人有同样的疑问？是我问得太白痴了么？

插入语插什么都无所谓的。

另外句子意思是：jay 可以记得在特定的地点获得特定的食物，这个研究人员已经发现了，并且，这种鸟趋向于不去打扰已经放置很久的腐烂的食物的挽回。（就是放置很久的腐烂食物他们就不要了）

我是这么认为的，大家讨论。

除了打扰，bother to do /doing 还有一个意思“花心思，费心去做”，treat是“一顿大餐”，所以这句解释应该是：
这种林鸟可以记住什么时候藏了特定的食物在特定的地方，科学家已经发现（插入语），并且（林鸟）倾向于不费心去恢复容易毁坏的一餐，（这一餐）被储存太长时间以至于已经腐烂

各位大神，还有一个问题呢。我记着那个Manhattan GMAT的SC里说过这样一个rule： Do not use a comma before and to separate two verbs that have the same subject.

Eg: Earl walked to school AND later ate his lunch.
Earl walked to school, AND HE later ate his lunch.
WRONG: Earl walked to school, AND later ate his lunch.

所以这里的tend的主语也是那个鸟，这样不就不对了吗？

意思如果明白了就好做了。原句大概意思是：一种鸟可以记住（它）什么时候（或特定时候）在什么地方（或特定地方）觅到的食物，这种事儿研究人员已经发现（插入语），而且（这种鸟它）不会费工夫去找寻容易腐败的食物，这种食物存储很长时间已经坏了。简单的说，就是鸟可以记住藏饭的时间地点和饭的种类，而且这鸟才不会费工夫去找那些容易坏的饭。

正确语序是："researchers have discovered that A scrub jay can remember......... , and tends to ......." 按照意思来说tend应该是不能够can的，所以平行的不是remember. 直接排除 A,B,C. 然后固定大牌 tend to do sth. 选择D
