of the nourishment that a mammal of similar size would normally

1) rather than burning calories to generate it

2) rather than the generation of body heat by burning calories

3) and not from generating it by burning calories

4) instead of by burning calories for generating it

5) instead of body heat generated by burning calories

我觉得原句就是对的。传说答案是最后一个？不知大家怎么看？

我觉得是E没错

A最大的问题在于it 比较结构中谨慎使用it/they 这在PREP笔记中强调过很多次

因为it必须指代整个by drawing their body heat

而此heat非彼heat 所以不合逻辑了

而rather than和instead of（介词）谁更好纯属偏好问题不能一概而论 GWD里就有很多instead of正确的选项

分析一下：

Reptiles, by drawing their body heat directly from the Sun rather than burning calories to generate it, can survive on ten percent of the nourishment that a mammal of similar size would normally require.

這裡要比較的是sun和burn calories兩種方法才合理。

A的話比較對象變成drawing heat 和burning calories，說不通。

因為it擺在這裡會讓句子歧異...不過我一開始也以為是A...

明確指出比較對象。這題真陰險...
