本题主要考代词指代的问题：

GMAT考试中有很多的代词指代歧义的问题，换句话说，比较理想的选项是只有一个关系代词的先行词的选项！要虔诚地遵循这个原则，去除掉任何技术上可能指代更多名词的选项。“要么有唯一可能的代词指代先行词，要么排除”

A：their 可能指代cars 也可能指代manufacturers

B：they 和 their同样有A中的问题

C: those只能指人，不能指物，所以，只能指代cars，不会有歧义指代manufacturers，正确。

D：their问题同A,B

E：对比对象不对等：more后面的的" fuel-efficient small cars" 跟than后面的"at any time“ 对比元素不对等，不具有可比性，排除。

这题d错哪里啊？d的意思是变了，those, their都指代manufactures，而不是cars了，但也没什么语法错误啊,d的意思就是可以生产更多高效能的车， c是生产的车更高效, those指代车。

求教！！

问题自己解决。
好像是指代就近原则，那those就指代CARS了，但意思上应该指代MANUFACTUERS。

我還是不明白A爲什麽指代歧義，邏輯意思上不就是指代cars么？那不就是指代最近的那個名詞么？爲什麽還會歧義？

now与today‘s 含义上重复，Today’s跟at any time比较的时候，要把自己排除在外，应该用any other更准确；their指代不明

C. small cars that are more fuel-efficient than those at any other time in
those就近指代原则，指代cars，无歧义，any other用词准确
D. more fuel-efficient small cars than those at any other time in their
这句话将原句的意思扭曲了。可以将D转化成Today’s technology allows manufacturers to make more car than those at any other time production history.明显今天的技术是改进了汽车的fuel－effecient，不是生产更多的车。

now跟today含义重复，句子意思扭曲同D

我觉得这题没那么麻烦
没必要从什么they 指代错误歧义来分析
PREP上有很多题目如果用指代歧义去解释那就完了浪费时间还容易做错特别是遇到 it they 这样的代词有的说代这个有的说代主句的中心词反正是看到答案大家根据答案分析

这道题一个比较 at any other time 就只剩下 C 和 D了
ETS 往往考察的是从2到3个句子中找正确答案
D 中 those 代人应该是 than those do
代物那逻辑上根本说不通
我不知道 those 能不能代人感觉上我觉得应该可以把哪位NN 能在OG上找到那才权威阿

和是否排除now没关系，历史本身就不包括现在。
those也可以指人
they指的就算是cars也不对，因为是现在制造出来的cars。
those貌似是万精油（复数名词），专门可以脱离修饰成分，放进时空机里比较的

那请问若“历史本身就不包括现在”，是不是用at any time 不用any other time也对？
those指代可数名词复数，但能指代人吗，who不是指代人的单或复数吗
A中their到底是不是就近指代？迷茫。。我咋觉得cars或 manufacturers都说的通呢

你好，浅，我觉得A不妥的地方有三处
Today's technology allows manufacturers to ,,,
(A) small cars more fuel-efficient now than at any time in their
1)最明显的是Now和today重复；
2)其余两个分别是"at any time"与"their"，我倾向于指代不清产生歧义本身就不要去放在首选来考虑了，换句话说，我认为过于明显的歧义就是排除该项的理由。
个人觉得：at any time与at any other time 是这道题目几个选项split的点，我们应该第一时间选择后者吧~
