Eurasian watermilfoil, a weed not native to Frida
Lake, has reproduced prolifically since being accidentally introduced there. In order to eliminate the weed, biologists proposed treating infested parts of the lake with a certain herbicide that is nontoxic for humans and aquatic animals. However, the herbicide might damage populations of certain rare plant species that the lake contains. For this reason local officials rejected the proposal.

答案为A。

但是，当时我想，因为用除草剂会危及rare plant species，可根据A的话，不用除草剂的话EW的spread也会危及到rare plant species，那就没有理由说拒绝使用是不对的了啊~反正结果危害了rare species。然后很抽的选了C。麻烦帮我拉回来吧~我进入牛角尖，想不通了。谢谢大家

the offical 只关心 rare plant species，所以some species of aquatic animals应当是无关，并且文中提到了the herbicide不伤害aquatic animals，所以我觉得C可以排除。

至于A，感觉稍微有一点矛盾吧，rare plant species，你用药救它，它可能会死，你不用药救它，它也会死。但用药damage可能不会使其完全死亡。但如果水草蔓延，和这些rare plant species争夺氧气，那么他们一定会死。

我觉得这是权宜的方法吧，没办法的办法。

A 给出了另一个威胁 certain rare plant species的原因。所以削弱了原文。

LOCAL OFFICIALS反对，因为用药，所以RARE PLANT减少

A。无因有果，不用药，EW也会使R P减少。。削弱（汗。。攒RP攒RP。。偏题了。。回来~）

个人感觉程度不同

不用程度更大，所以还是用好，削弱。
