researchers have discovered,是插入语，在分析句子结构时可以不用管它。所以句子的主语实际只有一个就是“A scrub jay”，and后面的并列句的动词当然也就要用第三人称单数了。

在D和E两个选项之间还是不太明白，not bother的用法是怎样的，请求指教

tend to do和bother doing是固定搭配，所以ACE错。
B：代词they错，不能指代A scrub jay
D中can do and tends平行，虽然平行结构不是太好，但是之前prep中也有类似的平行。第二个用一般现在时强调客观事实。

如果那样的话 应该没有那个逗号吧。另外意义上分析 后面的句子应该不是can引导的

同意LS，句意不是省略can. 总结一下
A. the subject is “ a scrub jay”, so the verb should be “tends”; bother doing sth；“if” absurd
B. 代词they错，不能指代A scrub jay
C. Tend是并列的动作，这里变成伴随状语，改变句意，错；bother doing sth.；it多余
D. 对，tend to do和bother doing是固定搭配；can do and tends平行，结构上虽然不一致，但是功能上平行，之前prep中也有类似的平行。第二个用一般现在时强调客观事实。
E. tend to do；it多余

E选项的it是多余的~~你不觉得多了个it读起来感觉很别扭么。。。。

在做题时，看到句子A scrub jay can remember 有情态动词can,所以后面tend 用原型。为什么不可以这么理解呢？还有，这句话的意思是什么？哈哈~菜鸟一只看了好久都没搞懂~

答案是D~但是有没有那位高手能帮忙解释一下这句话的意思和句子结构啊？只能根据agreement排除ABC,但DE两个选项没弄明白~包括笔记里tend和bother的用法也不是很清楚……
