标题: 求教NN，关于老prep1-61题

因为spears是复数所以it无法指代。但是那为什么D选项还用appers呢？这不是单数形式吗？一开始觉得是因为what指代前面挖掘这件事所有appear用单数形式，但是不能说服自己，因为what不能指代一句话啊。请NN明示一下吧，是不是我对what从句理解错了。谢谢

俺非NN，但说一下自己的理解：PREP2-61的解释还是很清楚的，what引导的从句作from介词的宾语，而what是该从句的主语，其实就是指代后面的hunting ground，所以应该用单数形式。
