(B) sprang to lire not in a flash of inspiration
but were slowly evolved

(D) did not spring to life in a flash of
inspiration but had slowly evolved

(E) did not spring to life in a flash of
inspiration but they were slowly evolved

错选了E, 但选C的话，后面的evolved slowly的时态是否有问题？按照OG解释，如果和not后面的spring平行，evolve就可以了吧。请大牛们赐教。
