whereby在这里是关系词,如加上就变成只有从句而无主句了.

不好意思顶个老问题出来：

关于这道题，OG解释选项D因为使用了主从关系连词whereby，而导致sentence fragements.

我的理解是由于前面under the....是介词短语结构，不构成句子，所以不能用连词连接后面的句子。不知道这样的理解对吗？

另外：查字典发现whereby是副词，并非连词，那OG的解释是不是有问题？

请教ing

字典里whereby有 adv conj 两种情况。

whereby是关系副词，用来引导关系分句，语法作用类似于where/when/why。

朗曼上的解释如下：

▪ a proposal whereby EU citizens would be allowed to reside anywhere in the EU

▪ There is a sense possessed by certain fishes, whereby they can detect an object because of its minute electrical activity.
