答案是A,怎么也想不通啊。A...as a result of ....and because....这一看就很别扭啊。为啥呢？？？

首先排除D,E -- 太恶心了。看A,B,C。这里就选择一个错误少点的做正确答案了。

B 别扭的地方

Over the course of the eighteenth century a tripling in the average output of ironwork was due to the replacement of charcoal by coal for the fuel used in the smelting of iron ore, in addition to several improvements in blowing machinery.

C 别扭的地方

With charcoal’s being replaced by coal as the fuel used in the smelting of iron ore and several improvements in blowing machinery, the average output of ironwork tripled over the eighteenth century.

其实 A 多看几遍也就不别扭了。就像丑媳妇多看几眼也觉得蛮翘的~~

我也同意一上来排除D E

可是A的语法伤很致命啊。要说两个原因就是说XXX was due to A and B. 没有说XXX was due to A and because of B的啊。这不对吧。

B 和C的确有点点别扭，但是起码是对的啊。

不算致命吧...我觉得致命伤只有主谓一致和时态...

先说B，the tripling of ...is,这个算是挺高频的谓语动词名词化的错误，另外due to ,in addition to不平行吧，in addition 地位有点变次要，而且第二个due省略的情况没见过，最好能提供个例子。

C，改变了原句的因果关系，我不记得one's being 是不是一定错，不过这个表达完全可以用replacment 代替。

至于A，功能上的平行是超过形式上的平行的，就像这个两个都是表原因，虽然一个短语一个句子，但是毕竟没有更好的选项了，还是能够接受的,而且第一个原因确实比较简略，短语即可概括，后者则相对复杂，用句子才能表达清楚。
