B. the comparative smoothness of the yellow jacket’s stinger allows them to pull it out and then can therefore use it

C. the yellow jacket’s stinger is comparatively smooth, and can therefore be pulled out and used

D. in comparison, the yellow jacket’s stinger is smooth, and thus able to be pulled out and used

E. in comparison, the yellow jacket has a smooth stinger, thus allowing it to be pulled out and used

答案是C，我选的是E。

我的问题是：既然C中的and之前有逗号，按照prep语法笔记中的讲解，and之前用逗号分隔就不能和and之前的分句并列、共用主语，而应该主谓齐全(本题情况应在and后补出it)，否则应去掉逗号使and前后并列。(如见prep1_56的解释)

E的allowing做伴随结果状语，it的指代确实可能有歧义(jacket&stinger)，但是prep中有提到代词的就近指代原则，也就是说代词的问题有商量的余地，但是C的问题是句子结构问题，我认为更严重。

请大家指教。

那是因为你没看到第一句话句首的whereas 它也是个连词 所以它决定了and后面的句子只能和中间的句子连

没看懂！

我的思路是whereas/然而但是尽管 引导了一个对比的含义，呼唤一个对比的成分马上出来（主语）跟the honeybee's stinger对应，所以，C很显然是一个正确的倾向。

个人做法：

in comparison重复了whereas的意思，直接排掉C、D。

whereas表比较，所以stinger对stinger。

补充一点：貌似在PREP里看过，说and连接的2个并列句如果主语相同，第二个句子可以省略主语，当然前提是逻辑意思不会出错

我的理解是加了逗号是为了把这个句子的逻辑意思分成两个成分，逗号前面是两个东西的比较，比较后再说后者如何

如果不加逗号，这个后半部分全是和 蜜蜂刺的比较不太合理

D 有几个错误，it 指代应该优先指yellow jacket 不对

两个比较中强调的东西不同，前者强调刺得特点，后者强调有（has）刺

答案是C，我选的是E。

C没有问题， the yellow jacket’s stinger is comparatively smooth, and（the yellow jacket’s stinger） can therefore be pulled out and used 可以省略。

E中it指代是有问题的，并且in comparison多余。

首先看到是比较 就应该考虑比较对象要对等，所以honeybee's stinger 和 the yellow jacket's stinger 相比较，其实C中的  ，and 结构是没有错的，俩者共用一个主语 the yellow jacket's stinger 逻辑意思也没有错。结构也没有错。

本题我和楼主一样思路选了E，下边几楼的童鞋也说了，AND之后的主语是可以的省的。但我的看法是，如果AND前边没有逗号的话，就更完美了，因为逗号后边的主语按照PREP的说法是不能省略的。大家不妨把逗号去掉读一读，那么就和前面的分句非常完美的对称了。


此题的in comparison呢也是一个明显的错误，所以我的总结是排除最明显的错误，小的错误呢，咱就不要用PREP的说法去硬套了。大家觉得呢？

and 前加逗号OG10里面有道题跟这里一样
主句中其实是有两个平行：be pulled out 与used平行，然后它们与is smooth平行。为了清晰的表达这一意思所以在第一个and前加了“,”。
假如C选项改为：the yellow jacket’s stinger is comparatively smooth and can therefore be pulled out and used again。大家读起来是否觉得很别扭！
我想问的是：B中it指代是否正确；E中allowing是做动作伴随还是结果伴随？
假如作动作伴随，逻辑主语就是yellow jacket，那么it是否就只能指stinger？而且jacket allows stinger to be pulled.....是否合理？
假如是做结果伴随，逻辑合理，指代就肯定是有问题的！

非常同意你的看法！ 我就是觉得“，＋and” 应该连接两个结构完整的句子   这样来看C就有结构性的硬伤，才委屈求全地选了E。想知道在这种每个答案都不完美的情况下，应该怎么优选？

非常同意这个说法
曼哈顿的原话+例子：Do not use a comma before and to separate two verbs that have the same subject. Either eliminate the comma or add a subject to the second verb, creating a second main clause.
Wrong: Earl walked to school, AND later ate his lunch.
Right: Earl walked to school AND later ate his lunch.
Right: Earl walked to school, AND HE later ate his lunch.

我看讨论有人说因为后面还有一个and used, 所以如果去掉逗号句子会变成了三个动词形式上平等的关系。这个问题确实存在。

那么C选项即使去掉逗号也不尽完美；在and之前补出省略掉的主语it好了
