自问自答吧。
C中with后应跟名词，而非从句。
B中as表示因果关系，是原文所要表达之意。
D中while表示同时并列或者转折之意，与原文初衷相悖。

把句子化简：The steel industry has changed, as large companies (such as...) that conducted operations from.......have downsized, or shut down.
1.as不是“作为”，也不是“像”的意思，更不是表达因果关系，在这里是连词，是连接俩个句子的连词，表是“随着”，CDE排除！
2. have 是动词复数形式前面一个得有个复数的主语，such as 是举例，不能当主语，那么后半句的主语一定是companies.
3. conduct是动词，have也是动词，一个完整的句子怎么能同时出现两个动词而没有任何连词比如and？题目里也没给类似的选项，所以这里就要看看有that的选项是不是对的 AE排除！
4. 那就只剩B了，that就指代companies, large companies （that conducted operations from.......)have downsized, or shut down. 这不是一个完整的句子么？as做连词，再链接前后连个句子，完美！

conducted 与 have downsized or shut down 都是动词。A 是一个run-on sentence。 （串句）英语语法不允许run-on sentence

那么是因为once导致的conducted不能做定语修饰companies吗？还是说如果是修饰companies的话必须紧跟在companies的后面？

这样想吧，
a. integrated companies，xx，once conducted..... have greatly downsized, or in some cases shut down altogether.
b. integrated companies, xx, that once conducted .. have greatly downsized, or in some cases shut down altogether.
b 消除了这句子是串句的疑惑

如果用conduct作后置定语那也只能用conducting而不是conducted，而且用了后置定语就变成修饰Bethlehem Steel了，句义上不如修饰 large, integrated companies 好

我的解题思路：
这个句子pattern 是gmat常有的，搞一堆有的没的描述在扰乱视线，要注意找出句子骨干。
The steel industry has changed radically over the last two decades, as large, integrated companies such as Bethlehem Steel once conducted operations from mining at one end of the process to shipping at the other have greatly downsized, or in some cases shut down altogether.
然后再看怎么把修饰语合理地加进去。
A. as large, integrated companies such as Bethlehem Steel once conducted operations from mining at one end of the process to shipping at the other, 这个修饰语是拿来修饰Bethlehem Steel的，要用that 来连接一下。
B. as large, integrated companies, such as Bethlehem Steel, that
C. with large, integrated companies, such as Bethlehem Steel, that ”with“不能加一个句子
D. while large, integrated companies, such as Bethlehem Steel, that "while‘表转折意思，句意不符
E. and large, integrated companies such as Bethlehem Steel "and"连接俩平行句式或承接作用，句意不符
