101. For a trade embargo against a particular country to succeed, a high degree of both international accord and

ability to prevent goods from entering or leaving that country must be sustained. A total blockade of Patria’s

ports is necessary to an embargo, but such an action would be likely to cause international discord over the

embargo.

The claims above, if true, most strongly support which of the following conclusions?

(A) The balance of opinion is likely to favor Patria in the event of a blockade.

(B) As long as international opinion is unanimously against Patria, a trade embargo is likely to succeed.

答案是D，我选的E。

OG的解释是：

E： The necessary condition for success is a high degree of international accord, not unanimity, so this

conclusion cannot be justified.

难道accord和unanimity不是一个意思么……-_-|求教！

至于E：封锁港口跟国际意见一致没有关系，成功封锁不需要国际意见一致，这是两个并列的条件来支持embargo的，只有封锁和一致才能实现embargo

至于E：封锁港口跟国际意见一致没有关系，成功封锁不需要国际意见一致，这是两个并列的条件来支持embargo的，只有封锁和一致才能实现embargo

题目说a high degree of both international accord and ability to prevent goods from entering or leaving that country must be sustained.不是说明国际意见很重要么。。。

嗯，是很重要，但是题目里有both……and……限定了，必须同时满足两个条件才能成功，然后题目又说了满足了第二个禁运条件，第一个条件就出现问题，discord了，这两个条件无法平衡，最终肯定会失败的。

E选项里，搞错了因果联系，就像上面我回复所说的

我是这样理解的，题干说了三件事：

(1) international accord

(2) ability to enforce embargo

(3) success of embargo

这三件事的关系是

(1) + (2) ----------> (3)

(3) -----------------> (2)

(3) --------fail-----> (1)

所以（2）是（3）的必要而非充分条件，而（3）的成功又要求（1）+（2），现在（1）不成立，所以（3）不能成功，所以D最好

E的陈述有点像说（1）是（3）的充分条件，所以错

我也觉得这道题比较牵强，如果E的陈述更像充分条件就没有歧义了，比如E写成for a blockade of Patria's ports to be successful, as long as international opinion is unanimous.

我觉得，不是必要充分条件的问题，而是程度的问题，原题是a high degree of international accord，而e中是unanimous也就是完全同意

结论没找对啊！

结论是封锁港口会造成国际不一致。

而题目说封锁港口+国际一致才能有em。

D加强了，E是无关选项

我个人觉得这道题目属于逻辑题中的general与specific类型的题目，与og12中cr-78类似。不同的是本题是从general到specific，而78题是从specific到general。
既然是G与S类的题目，就应该抓住G与S的共通之处。
"for an embargo to succeed"则是本题中G与S的共通点。正如OG的解释，前面讨论了general情形下，embargo的成功条件，后面在specific的情形下，讨论其成功的可能性the likelihood of success。
因此，结合general情形下成功的条件，得出specific 情形下不可能成功，是理所当然的。

对于E的分析，我支持6楼和7楼的说法，但更重要的是因为这样的结论会让S与G不搭调~~

同意7楼，E在逻辑上没有问题，解释里很明白地说了，E的错误是：The necessary condition for success is a high degree of international accord, not unanimity。所以是程度不同，也就是说，只要大部分国家(higher degree of internationa accord)同意，就不会出现问题，但并不要求所有国家都一致同意。

另外这道题感觉要做对，必须先揣摩说这个话的人的意思和立场。整体感觉是对embargo成功信心不大的（好吧也可能是因为我已经知道答案了囧），而不是那种信心十足——只要...就能...

支持11楼, E是说must be unanimous. 意思是必须无异议, 这本身是错误的. 因为原文是a high degree of accord.
着就相当于说学好GMAT需要努力学习和学好GMAT必须完全不休息才能学好. 这就限定了这有这样才能学好GMAT, 而仅仅努力学习是不够的. 而事实并非如此.

我是这么理解的：题干说embargo的成功需要两个要素，一是international accord,二是ability to prevent goods from entering or leaving that country.然后又说blockade of P's ports是实现embargo必要的，我理解这个blockade其实就等于前面两个因素里的第二个，ability,是P单方面可以决定的不必得到international accord.但是这样做会引起国际上的异议。
E选项说要让P's ports 的blockade成功需要国际一致意见是混淆了blockade和embargo.两者不等，是从属关系。
楼上有人说程度的问题，这个我做的时候没发现，不过应该也算是错误点。

应该是9楼的意思吧
原文的结论是第二句，第一句只是给个大背景和大前提，重点是but后面的内容，就是patria有blockade的话就会导致international discord，这是原文的陈述内容
而E选项的陈述内容则不符合原文的陈述，原文已经说了blockade of patria会导致discord了，E选项则说must be unanious，就是不顾原文结论在自己说自己的
而且这一题是考的是main conclusion，需要忠于原文，因此E就是无关选项

这个题目这么看
A.embargo succeed（充分条件）推出→B.high digree of accord
C.ability to enforce embargo（俩个必要条件）
现在的结论是C满足，反而B可能不满足了
逆否命题，非B推出非A。
即可能不同意→可能不成功（即可能失败）就是选D了

我问一下A为什么无关呢。balance of opinion 不就是accord吗。这句话是对的呀

这题我一开始也做错了，不过是个非常低级的错误。- -
第二遍分析的时候，我和你思路一样，must be句型让人领会为这是一个唯一充分的条件可以得到结论，所以明显违背了原命题。

但是看到大家解释，原来a high degree错得也很明显啊。。。

倾向8楼的说法 high degree和unanimity不一样
如果我在考场上遇到这道题应该不会反应出来blockade=prevent goods from entering......
