August 11, 2009. Shanghai campus -- The MBA office has announced the recipients of the Student Leader Awards 2008. They are (listed alphabetically by last name):
This is the first year the honour is being awarded at CEIBS. The three students were selected, by their peers, in recognition of their outstanding contribution and service to the CEIBS community in the first half of the MBA 2008 programme. Factors taken into consideration included their impressive leadership skills and ability to effectively communicate with their peers and school officials. They were selected during a two-round process. In the first round, each of the MBA 2008 students who opted to participate in the voting (more than half of the class) chose a maximum of two nominees and gave a brief description of his/her achievements. This first round netted 21 nominees. The list was then narrowed down to the 8 nominees who had received the most votes. After a second round of voting, Fellers, Kan and Zhang emerged the top three. The Student Leader Awards is yet another method of fostering leadership skills, rewarding hard work, encouraging students' contribution to the CEIBS community and establishing role models within the student body. In recent years, CEIBS has provided an excellent platform for honing students' leadership skills. The Student Committee, for example, plays an increasingly important role in improving student life and bridging the gap between the student body and school officials. Students also take on leadership roles by organizing and hosting international-level competitions and conferences such as BGRC and Innovate China. With the members of the MBA 2009 class joining the CEIBS community this week, the next two months will see the birth of a new batch of leaders with the election of Student Committee 2009, as well as the leaders of event organizing committees and CEIBS' numerous student clubs. |
