it was forbidden on pain of death. 我觉得句子不对，it在这可以指代vegetable farming ，但是后面又是被动，看不明白了~~~~~

dispose of 是固定搭配;某事物被禁止、限制，当然要用被动啦！至于第三题，我个人认为 people后面少了个do,而且前面的be able to be很啰嗦的，而且使用时多表示主动，在这里显然是computers“能”被怎样，这个“能”不因该是computer自身的属性！
