这里的not the speed and path of its movement补充说明the storm’s structure and strength

而并不是补充说明for gauging the storm’s structure and strength>>

You should pay attention to the parallel structure.

The data collected by weather airplanes that fly into the heart of a hurricane are useful mainly for gauging the storm’s structure and strength, not for the speed and the path of their movement.

1st error is that their has not referent.

2nd is parallel: for doing...., not for noun. do you make sense?

(E) and not for the speed and the path of its movements (for noun- wrong)

(C) for doing noun, not noun, is right.
