标题: [求助]careers in corporate finance

大家好~

我是金融专业的学生，下学期大四，正在开始准备留学的申请工作，发现最头疼的一件事情是要确定好自己详细的career path，但是很多大学都要求这方面的陈述材料。我大致地查阅资料之后，觉得corporate finance是一个比较适合我而我也比较感兴趣的领域，但对于careers of corporate finance的了解，还是在有限，只知道CFO, financial analyst等是属于这个行业的。但是这只能作为一个长期的职业目标而已，在近期来说并不现实，我不知道该如何一步一步的达到这个目标。我发现有些投资银行也有corporate finance方面的职位，因为投行业务也包括帮一些公司分析财务，对吧？那么是不是可以先进入投行，当analyst, associate,然后再考虑进入某个公司当CFO? 这只是我的猜测而已，不知道是否正确，所以想请教一下大家了。

具体整理了一下我的问题，大概包括以下几个吧，哪位牛牛能够抽空帮我解答一下么？非常感谢！

1、投行和公司在corporate finance领域的业务有何不同？

2、 Corporate finance的career path大概是怎样的？比如说先进入某公司的财务部做起，或是先进入投行中的corporate finance group。关键是怎样break in这个行业呢？

3、CFO和Financial analyst有什么区别？我指的是在某一个公司内部的话。

4、金融专业和会计专业在corporate finance领域哪一个更有优势呢？

楼主你搞混淆了两个最基本的概念：投行的corporate finance（定义请参见IB板块）和公司的corporate finance。这是完全两个不同的东西。（所以我一直觉得这个板块应该换个名字，很误导人）

投行的corporate finance主要是做公司兼并收购，上市融资。而公司的corporate finance中文应该译作公司财务，主要三大块（会计，财务控制，现金管理）。

这两个东西风马牛不相及。

楼上的，答案是无所谓。再说corporate finance里面有很多块，比如税务，比如财务等等。你学这种“通吃”专业，对将来的职业发展影响不大。真正工作了你就会发现在学校里学的知识只是你需要的一小部分。

你在写statement of purpose 吧。建议换思路。既然不清楚career path，就不要多写。偏重你自己的兴趣好了。如果你不擅长model，就说你喜欢financial analysis. 至于CFO, 远着呢，不提更好。

正解，需要了解operation，operation的成分也很多。公司里面要苦苦熬年头，lifestyle要好些，但是也有人会经常加班，搞不懂。。。

LZ, 其实我也在写ps，纠结career plan，之前本科学的东西都不是很靠谱，但是还是对于做公司的财务比较有兴趣。msf的项目里面貌似是没有专门的corporate finance的，只是会有课程的设计而已。我现在也是很多都不了解，一起加油啦

Firstly, prior to answer LZ question, here is the facts that you should be aware of.
Corporate Finance in indurstries vs. Corporate Finance in IB are different concepts.
Former is general accounting job plus financial analysis,planning, etc. while latter is mainly focus on corporate financing (ie. underwriting) and M&A.
Speaking of career planning, that depends on what you want out of it. In general, industries CF is more balanced choice when it comes to lifestyle, while IB CF is the most demanding job you could ever see. Of course if what you care is solely money, the IB CF paycheque will barely dissapoint you.

Secondly, in repsonse to #25, there is Master of Corporate Finance, check the website of Cass Business School.

公司corporate finance的workload取决于公司的架构，内部流程的合理程度和分析的深度。
