TN 24 给的答案是E. 大惑不解.

把原句简化: the white house named Dr. RF chairperson.

后面 they assigned to do a report on the history and ethics of the government’s radiation experiments on humans in the 1950’s and 1960’s 应该是experts的定语才对.

E里面的it貌似多余.

个人认为选D.

表目的to do >for doing,

用they assigned to do,其中they 就近指代experts

所以我觉得选A

我觉得 it 应该指的是 the white house 作同位于成分来修饰experts

如果用they，就近指代experts则后面的assigned就不对了，应该加上were；或者干脆直接把they去掉。

另外，assign做指派的时候后好像也只能用to

貌似定语从句中that或者which省略掉了，因为在从句中成分为宾语

假如assign for可以跟present participle可以作被委派的意思的话D就对了,句子的意思是说白宫任命了一个什么人什么职位,(该委员会)被委派了什么工作

我也选的D，现在想出来的理由是，D错在表目的不能用“for doing”，只能用“to do"。在E中，it指代白宫，“the federal advisory committee of experts”做后面定语从句的宾语，这个时候似乎先行词是可以省略的。比如说The book I bought is red.就省略了book和I之间的that。

assign ....for.....,是说为了什么而抽出整体中的一部分，assign A forB, A 多数都是用一些泛指的名词比如说a/an+n或者是a few/ some/how much 等等，如果该题用some of the committee of experts assigned for doing a report 应该是没有问题的

个人意见，不过看答案之前也是选D的，因为觉得it指代不清

句子主干：In 1994 the white house(主语) named(谓语) Dr RuthR. Faden(双宾语1) chairperson(双宾语2) of 后面全是修饰。

因为that不能指代人，所以这里的(that) it assigned to do这个定语从句是修饰advisory committee的，committee又是it assigned to do这句话的宾语。补全就是... chairperson of the federal advisory committee of ... (that) it(指代 the white house) assign to do.
即白宫安排这个顾问委员会去做一份历史和伦理学的报告

(1) assign可做及物动词/名词：朗文 assign somebody/something TO somebody/something;
或者 somebody/something BE assigned TO DO something
所以A/E的用法应该不可行
(2) to do > for doing；也有说法是to do表目的; for doing表功能；
从这个点看，D也是错的。
综上所述，此题要么出了BUG，要么调整上面的2个考点规则，目前看无正确答案。
