标题: GWD31-Q11题目之外的问题。

     GWD31-Q11

     Cash flows to stock and bond mutual funds have gained strength in the last two months,  

     but fund managers have not been eager to invest the new money, instead of preferring to

     raise the cash levels in their portfolios at the highest level in six months.

 

A.       have not been eager to invest the new money, instead of preferring to raise the cash levels in their portfolios at

B.       have not been eager to invest the new money, instead preferring to raise the cash levels in their portfolios to

C.       have not been eager at investing the new money, instead of preferring to raise the cash levels in thief portfolios to

D.      were not eager to invest the new money, instead of preferring to raise the cash levels in their portfolios at

E.       were not eager at investing the new money, instead preferring to raise the cash levels in their portfolios to

A.     instead of表示而不是，其否定了后面的内容，表示fund managers没有eager to invest the new money，也没有去preferring to raise….逻辑错误；raise…to the highest level是习惯用法。Raise…at错了。

B.      正确。instead表示反而，侧重了后面的内容。Raise….to the highest level正确

C.      Eager at用法错误应该是eager to；instead of错误同A。

D.     Instead of用法错误同A。raise…at 错误同B。

E.      Eager at用法错误。

但我有一个疑问，如果E选项把at改成to，那么B和E的时态不同，该怎么选择呢？

还有很多题目到底是选择一般过去式，还是现在完成时，还是不太明白。

还是选B
动词的时态ETS会在整个句子中给你暗示的
1、为划线部分动词，一般情况下整个句子的时态应该保持一致（如此题），除非个别有自己时间状语的动词
2、时间状语
3、某些特定意义的词，如since;within;current;past等
4、逻辑
LZ自己好好钻研OG吧
还有就是了解各个时态的特色，如OG上就明确的说过“过去完成时就暗示了动作到现在不在持续”等等

标题: preferring的疑问
这道题还是有点不明白。B中instead后的preferring是和eager并列 （have been preferring)，还是作为分词修饰managers呢？

preferring是作状语修饰主句，如果是并列应当用and连接

同楼主疑问，我觉得此处用一般过去时是对的——meaning basis

时态上差别不大。我觉得gmat不会这么细致的考时态，本人觉得过去式应该更好于现在完成时
