不明白，答案为什么是E呢？原句中用的分明是vanishing，表示正在消失，而E中用的是have vanished，表示已经消失了。这是不是改变句子原意？！

原句中的vanishing是状语从句，这句话的时态应该是现在完成时。

楼主我想应该是时态的问题，B中主句只用了过去时，表达这些生物曾经出现，但是并不说明现在还存在。而E中前后均用了完成时，则表达了从古至今共出现了五亿种生物其中的99%消失了。
