Journalist: To reconcile the need for profits sufficient to support new drug research with the moral imperative to provide medicine sto thos who most need them but cannot afford theme, some pharmaceutical companies feel justified in selling a drug in rich nations at one price an d in poor nations at a much lower price. But this practice is unjustified. A nation with a low average income may still have a substantial middle class better able to pay for new drugs than are many of the poor citizens of an overall wealthier nation.

Which one of the following priniciples, if valid, most helps to justify the journalist reasoning?

C whether one deserves special consideration depends on one's needs rather than on characteristics of the society to which one belongs.

principle-justify 题,为什么我觉得C里" whether one deserves special consideration depends on one's needs" 这部分并没有在原文里出现呢?

这个是对应第一句话里的“……to provide medicine to those who most need them....”（我擅自改了个别单词…本意应该是这样吧^^）。

我觉得：

special consideration refers to lower price for the medicine

one's needs refer to middle class individuals's who does not need this special consideration

the characteristic of society they are in refers to "low average income" in the society those middle class may belong to.

Conclusiong of Journalist justified by the priniciple:

Those middle class individual in poor nations do not deserve the special consideration because they do not need it even if the society they are in shows a general incapibility to afford the medicine.

一些制药公司认为给一些wealth nation的药价比poor nation的药价高，（就是对poor nation有special consideration)可以解决一些人need medicines but can't afford them，作者认为制药公司的想法是不合理的，因为poor nation也有富人比wealth nation的穷人要富

所以可以说他基于的principle就是人们到底是不是deserve special consideration不能用他们是在穷国还是富国来评判，而要基于他们自己到底是穷还是富，正好C对~~~

制药公司认为：分别在穷国、富国用不同的药价，会有利于销售，但情况并非如此。

经济学道理：非生活必需品的价格弹性小而钢性大，与价格刺激影响不大。比如：一个人不可能因为药便宜了，就跑去买，也不会因为药贵了，就拒绝吃药治病。
