是不是说which后面的were限制了which不能指代尼克松所以which这里可以不用直接跟在hearings后面， which就近指代是硬性规定呢还是有些什么情况可以不遵循的，请牛牛解释谢谢了：）

我不确定是否有明确的语法规则讲，什么时候要就近修饰，什么时候跳跃修饰；相反，对于做题而言，用你所说的这种方法，判断出which应该修饰哪个就可以了。

语法上讲，一个定语从句，必然是优先修饰离他最近的那个现行词（放到其他修饰里面，就近修饰也是主流吧），但必须建立在逻辑意思合理的基础上；

所以，如果出现Richard Nixon, which were，这种情况，肯定要判断，which 该不该修饰nixon,如果不该，是不是就一定是错的；

唉，我也真希望大家多总结一些语法规则，解决尽可能多的争议，一起努力吧。
