这道题的答案是B，百思不得其解啊，crus，或者哪位帮帮忙，谢谢！

原文明明说的是some scientists skeptical about...blablabla.....B说的是most，我很早就排除B了呀。

hypotheses and testing them against observations—in
essence, attempting to show that the hypotheses are
incorrect. Nothing brings more recognition than
overthrowing conventional wisdom. It is accordingly
unsurprising that some scientists are skeptical of the

本文说：现代科学是建立在对假设的反复认证上的。

后面的 global warming 是例证。

问的是： provides the most support

第一感觉：同意改写，但本文既然有例证，就是对例子的同意改写。

因此，提到关键词hypothesis和against observations（反证的evidence）辩证关系的就是答案。

答案A落脚点在scientific debate，无关。

C没有提到，不能证明。

D any alternative hypotheses无关。

E primarily driven by a desire无关。

(B) Most researchers in climatology have substantial motive to find evidence that would discredit the global warming hypothesis.

这个答案很是精美，越看越舒服。

个人感觉，你可能对于句意没有完全把握吧，事实上，看懂了自然就知道答案。

谢谢crus，我想我没太理解好文章的第一句话。

我看到例子说it is unsurprising that some scientists are skeptical of global warming就直接排出B了，然后又读到很多人try to 证明global warming是错的但是都无果，他们very few find 反证，所以选的C。再看看我也觉得C的conclusively shows太绝对了。

总结一下
第一句话说：现代科学是建立在假设，然后找反证的基础上的。（也就是说所有的现代科学都是这么个研究方法）
所以，B的most researchers in climatology之所以对，是因为对于所有学科，学者们都一样。。。有motivation找反证。是这样理解的吗？

具体与学者无关，而在于科学的精神是：提出假设，找反证。（B答案通过描述学者而道出科学的真谛）

B答案正确的推理在后面半句“ to find evidence that would discredit the global warming hypothesis.”
