对于E错误的解释是，as...as放在句中会引起歧义，但是在这里，as前面的people also developed a written language，与as后面的it，均指的是一样东西。就是language--language(it) not as highly sophisticated as

不觉得这里有任何的歧义。

另外，想请教一下，not as ... as that of the Maya与

not as ... as the Maya's这两种方法是否都是正确的。

E是run-on (除非however之前有semi-colon)
not as ... as the Maya's也可以

喔，明白了。E是 the Aztec people also developed a written language与 it was more pictographic in nature两个谓語句子没有连词对吧。

E选项如果前面不放主语的话, 有修饰前面主句主语 the Aztec people的嫌疑, 所以必须另起一句用it作主语
