In California, a lack of genetic variation in the Argentine ant has allowed the species to spread widely; due to their being so genetically similar to one another, the ants consider all their fellows to be a close relative and thus do not engage in the kind of fierce inter-colony struggles that limits the spread of this species in its native Argentina.

答案选的是C，我选择了D；

请牛牛给解释一下。我很早就排除了C，因为使用的是it, limits.我认为 struggles that limits…这种说法是不对的。

句义：是一件事limits，不能用limit，it 作形式主语说的是这件事，原句要说的是在加州能广泛繁衍，同时，由于同类的相似性导致的同类不太为争夺地盘争斗这件事，反而使他们在本土阿根廷不能广泛繁衍。选C

不选D     后半句说的成了蚂蚁不太卷入使他们在本土阿根廷不能广泛繁衍的争斗

不敢苟同，按你的意思如果It是形式主语，后边跟的是一个跨度超长的so that结构，整个后半部分的意思就跟“a lack of genetic variation in the Argentine ant has allowed the species to spread widely; ”这个前提完全相反了。

考场上我会选D，这道题有些Tricky。

D吧..D没什么毛病，未划线的its指代species

c similar 后面空荡荡的 和limit都是问题

我认为如果选D，那么that修饰的是struggles，说所有struggles都limit

而C选项的that修饰的是 the kind of struggles，是所有struggles其中的一种，意思是ant does not engage in the struggle，而不是struggles

所以这题要看怎么理解题目的意思了，争议题目前没有定论

我开始也选d，但是后来看到句子末尾是the spread of this species in its native Argentina，就坚定的选c了，关于limits的解释，参见LS。
