The Sports Medicine Programs of the Olympic Training Center, a complex where final tryouts are held for athletes representing the United States in the Olympics, is geared toward enhancing athletes' performance and toward their preparation for international competition.

(B) is geared to enhance the performance of athletes and to prepare them

(D) are geared toward the enhancement of athletes' performance and toward preparing them

(E) are geared toward enhancing the performance of athletes and preparing them

平衡对称（Parallelism）

1) 惯用语: gear: verb。 (usually passive。)if someone or sth is geared to (+noun.)or towards a particular purpose， they are organized or designed in order to achieve that purpose。对某事物加以调节以适合某种需要或达到某种水平或标准

2) 专有名词的复数: 专有名词的复数跟普通单词一样，在词尾添加s表示复数概念

(A) toward enhancing和toward their preparation不平衡；
主动词不一致，is应该改为复数

(B) 主动词不一致

(D) the enhancement和preparing them不平衡

(E) 正确， are geared toward enhancing…and preparing结构平衡且符合习惯用法

我的问题是，C 选项，即使their preparation与athletes’ performance平行；感觉也不会引起逻辑错误啊？

谢谢版主，但文中A选项的意思似乎和c表达的逻辑意思更接近些，虽然两个选项的逻辑意思不同，但放在这里都说的通，为何取E选项，不取C选项的逻辑意思呢？

E 中 enhancing the performance of athletes and preparing them for international competition

C E逻辑意思不一样是两个动词的并列并且有先后逻辑关系，E 中的for 是 prepare for短语

不知道我的理解是否正确？

我觉得只能用语法的倾向来判定

用动词表达与名词表达含意是不同的

且G魔倾向前者

有时a项的表达方式不一定就是最好的

有更好的出现当然就选更好的

答案是比较出来的

A: SMP gear are geared toward athletes' preparation. <---沒有enhance.
所以C改變了原意

我小结一下:

本题争议在于C 和E；问题不在于to/towards的区别，这里都可以用；也不在于towards是否要重复两遍（这些都是陷阱，会混淆思维和注意力）；

问题在于C: enhance A and B(prepration); C错在把prepration 归为enhance的范畴

E: enhance A and prepare A

逻辑意思以原文（A)选项为准；关注C的逻辑错误

会不会是their无处指代，导致C错呢！！Athletes’ 中没有出现athletes，their中的they不能指代athletes？
