in many corporations, employees are being replaced by automated equipment in order to save money. however, many workers who lose their jobs to automation will need goverment assistamce to suvive , and the same corporation that are laying people off will eventually pay for that assistance through increased taxes and unemployment insurance payments.

which one most strengthens the author's argument

A many workers who have already lose their jobs to automation have been unable to find new jobs

B many corporation that have fail to automate have seen their profit decline.

C taxes and unemployment insurance are paid also by corporations that are not automating

D most of the new jobs created by automation pay less than the jobs eliminated by automation did

E the initial investment in machinery for automation is often greater than the short--term saving in labor costs

the answer is A. would you tell me the reason? thank you

According to the question, the corporation will eventually pay for more including the taxes and insurance payments for those layed-off employees, hence the reasoning can be shown as following:

corporation Lay-off more employees -> corporation will pay more

Without any change on this reasoning, then we seek for what condition would strengthen the conclusion. Here is the one: the workers who are unemployment have been unable to fine new jobs, hence the corporation needs to pay those people until they got a new job.

Hope helps~

找不到工作,所以需要政府救济金,而这些钱来自于税收等——由企业负担

B many corporation that have fail to automate have seen their profit decline.

无关,没有讨论corporation that have fail to automate

C taxes and unemployment insurance are paid also by corporations that are not automating

无关,没有讨论对fail to anto的企业的影响

D most of the new jobs created by automation pay less than the jobs eliminated by automation did

那还是有工作的啊,就不需要政府救济金了,企业没有增加负担

E the initial investment in machinery for automation is often greater than the short--term saving in labor costs

无关

the answer is A. would you tell me the reason? thank you
