看完讨论帖有了一个想法。。E的错误是不是在于that 后面的从句不完整呢？
不知道我的思路对不对请大家指正。

E. 98 percent of men and 75 percent of women who were born in the country, by the time they reached adulthood
had been attacked by the birds

E谓语是had been attacked,句子结构完整，但修饰语位置不好。

首先，定语从句who were born不及分词born简洁。

其次，E的主谓之间有两个修饰语，相隔太远，不及C的结构。
