C.in higher concentrations during sleeping than waking.                 (wrong, my choice)


D.in higher concentrations during sleep than during waking hours.                 (right)


could anybody explain the reason of choosing D

than后面的成分一般要和前面的平行，如果前面有介词的话，那么than后面一般都要加上介词（像这道题的during）所以要选D
