今天对着同事的面哭了一场(是不是太失身份了),然后一起出去吃饭。回到公寓,又痛苦了一场,想把压力给解脱了吧。
没有想到咨询的压力这么大。一个人来到国外的总部,对着一堆总部的客户,一堆语言不通的人(只有我一个人说英语),再加上我中国人的劣势身份(或许是我自己想的)。中途进项目,什么都不了解(内容不了解,组织架构不了解,连咨询的skills也不太清楚,刚做咨询),开会时什么话都说不了,一堆人为了我说英语,我却什么都没有说。所以就试着讲(因为紧张又讲得没到点子上,或许因为自信不够),结果今天就讲错话了(对着一堆客户说我是来学习的,要谢谢他们-要知道人家每天付很多钱给我的)。不知道该怎么做了,沉默做笔记?还是勇敢地去讲。或许我心态就不对,老师觉得自己不懂人家的业务,还要对人家指手画脚。我的同事这点就做得非常好,不懂还照样理直气壮。开会什么内容都没有,但是结束能总结出一堆东西来。或许这就是咨询?真不知道咨询是怎么做的?
我是说法语(少量英语)的顾问,语言一直是很大的障碍,但是更重要的是东方人性格腼腆的障碍.
不懂人家的业务,还要对人家指手画脚是不对的,但是一定要让别人知道自己对问题的看法, 并尽快了解业务并提出问题或者建议和解决办法.
中国人的身份并不是劣势反倒是优势,你在克服了眼前的困难之后就慢慢体会到了.

Take it easy. Sure there is a learning curve when you plunge into a new project, your client will reasonablely give you some time to understand their problem. ;) They hired you for your knowledge, not your language. If you fell uncomfortable with your communication, then you could try to speak less and always try to hit the point. If you could solve the problem and maintain good relationship with the client, who cares what the fxxk u are talking about, lol ;)
一开始都有这么一段适应期的
多看、多听、多想;在客户面前一定要谨慎,宁可少说,不要一时激动了乱说
况且你还不是那么有knowledge,如果是专家的话,还可以配个翻译,呵呵
Take it easy! You can analyze the reason you can not involve in the discussion with client,only lanaguge barrier? or you are not familar with the content, EVEN in ur native lanaguage. THEN find soltion on that. No one is born to be omni, however, from my own view, one of key qualifications for a consultant is to learn fast!
More important, make sure what's expectation from ur boss. If you are entry level analyst, ur supervisor might only expect you to take notes and summarize meeting mintues.
Last but not least,be careful on "I am here to learn..." in front of client, which is REALLY bad, even client knows that.

我的工作语言是日语,并且一直要接触完全不同的行业。在将要接手一个新行业的项目时,我一般会去网上买个10本左右的该行业相关的书,然后快速浏览,并将信息整理进自己思考行业的通用framework里面。碰到不确定的地方,就是未来需要确认的知识点。然后带着这个很多未填写完的框架,就去“蒙”了。语言确实有点麻烦,但是自信是可以装出来的,需要对自己说“我已经是这个行业里的半个专家了”,然后带着自信的笑容上吧,出丑了就对自己说一句“老子怕个鸟!”,嘻嘻,fighting fighting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you figure out why they hire/need you, you will feel more comfortable:))
