The answer is A. while i choose B. What is the error in B?为什么不是Trying to do ...is doing sth?

终于打完了，这个题看得我真是晕啊！改错部分后面的句子的主语难道不是A substance吗？选项E不是改变了原句的主语吗？
请高手指点

1、由不定式构成的平行结构。A答案省略了trying ，B的问题是构成不了平行结构

2、这个题目只考了一个动词的合理的发出。cultivate “耕作，培养”只能用于植物，其他四个答案的动词的发出者都不对。

提醒tt sis 一句，做题的时候要把注意力集中在句子的主干上，先看主要的动词，再看其他的动词，以动词为核心解题。
