  Among the more effective kinds of publicity that publishers can get for a new book is to have excerpts of it published in a high-circulation magazine soon before the book is published. The benefits of such excerption include not only a sure increase in sales but also a fee paid by the magazine to the book's publisher.

which of the following conclusions is best supported by the information above?

A) the number of people for whom seeing an excerpt of a book in a magazine provides an adequate substitute for reading the whole book is smaller than the number for whom the excerpt stimulates a desire to read the book.

D) the effectiveness of having excerpts of a book published in a magazine, measured in terms of increased sales of a book, is proportional to the circulation of the magazine in which the excerpts are published.

我觉得A是support 题干,不是题干support A,为什么选,还有D不能被题干support吗?为什么?

换个思路,提出一个结论:看了目录激发起欲望的人比看了目录就满足的人多。 要证明这个,可以比较有目录前和有目录后

如果前没有后销量好,说明目录对与书的销售有正向的作用,即激发起欲望的比满足了的人多。

举个例子:全国各地都禁止酒后驾车,并且交警成天上街抓人。证明了酒后驾车比较危险。是正因为酒后驾车很危险,才使得公安部门有了这样的措施。

D的意思是 效果取决于circulation,要证明这个观点,就要说BOOK PUBLISHER争先恐后追逐 high-circulation 的magazine。 而题目不是这样讲的

关于D选项我也有个疑问,答案的解释是"the argument is limited to high-circulation magazines",而D没有提到high-circulation,所以不对。

可是A选项也同样没有提到high-circulation啊,A选项说的也是“a magazine ”,也是个in general的,为什么A就对呢?

我觉得答案里反驳D的解释也可以用来反驳A。

烦请高手们解答。。。

Information above could not infer that the conclusion in D is absolute right.

The effectiveness may not be in proportion to the circulation. No comparasion of circulation in the information. The premise is within the high-circulation scope.

情況:出書者在出書之前,將摘要刊載高流通的雜誌上,是很有效的宣傳方式
情況:好處有兩個1. 增加書銷量 2. 雜誌會付摘要費用
題目:以上情況會導致什麼結論
CDE: 超出範圍 B: 相反
D: 刊登摘要的書的銷量跟有刊登摘要的雜誌流通成正比
不一定,選項中的雜誌超出文章所指的'高流通雜誌'
也可能包括了'完全沒有流通的雜誌'(等於零),就違反了第一個好處-->增加書銷量

A: correct, 看到摘要就足夠的人 少於 看到摘要就更想看整本書的人
因為前提有提到是"高流通的雜誌",也就是說一定會有人看到摘要(大於零)
如果一個人看到摘要,就有一個人想要買書
如果有兩個人看到摘要,至少有一個人想要買書
如果有三個人看到摘要,至少有兩個人想要買書....
因此,就符合題目所給的情況

'高流通雜誌'是個關鍵點

這題有點像數學題咧...
