请教以下高手，下面这道题题干该如何翻译？尤其是 the chemicals division for the balance是什么意思？

A company’s two divisions performed with remarkable consistency over the past three

years: in each of those years, the pharmaceuticals division has accounted for roughly 20

percent of dollar sales and 40 percent of profits, and the chemicals division for the balance.

Which of the following can properly be inferred regarding the past three years from the

statement above?

(A) Total dollar sales for each of the company’s divisions have remained roughly constant.

chemecials division.

是不是和前面的pharmaceuticals division的情况相等的意思？

应该不是，从该题的解释可以看出来。我也不明白是什么意思

A company’s two divisions ,PD 和CD应该是形成配比，在题目的解释中也可以看出来，我想for balance的意思是不是总共的profit共100%，cd应该是占剩下60%的profit的意思，呵呵。

我觉得这个应该是化学药品部门，后面的pharmaceuticals，这个应该是医学药品部门，总归是一个公司两个部门，他们创收的效益以及销售额度，公司作为一个整体来看待，其中再分别给出数据，

the chemicals division for the balance 我的理解是，  Chemical division 的sales 和 Profit 分别是除了PD部门之外剩下来的比率，也就是说CD的sales占公司的80%，Profit却占公司的60%。

我的理解是：
PD占销售额的20% 却创造了40%的利润
而CD for the balance 意思也许是 三年中每年保持不变，或者指所销售和得到利润百分比一样，类似销售占10%，利润也占10%。 总之就是没什么变化

我的理解 for the balance 是相对于pharmaceuticals division  的 accounted for roughly 20

percent of dollar sales and 40 percent of profits 

收入和利润是平衡的··

blance 有余额的意思，这里可以理解我余下的部分，即chemical sector acounts for 80% of  dollar sales and 60% of profits.
