这题是选C，是没有问题的。

（1）stunned 与 set free 两者不应该是并列关系， set 是修饰stunned的。所以选项C， D 和 E都是错的。

     (2) consider 不与 as 连用。而regard...as...

                                 ex) ：I consider what he said reasonable.

                         所以就只有A是正确的。

但是我的问题：

             在选项A中：

                         setting free the more than 500 slaves who were leaglly considered

“the” 的位置会造成句子意思的不同嘛？

                         如：setting free more than the 500 slaves who were leaglly considered

这两者有什么不一样？请于帮助！

---> perfect expression, Robert had more than 500 slaves and he freed all of them

---> logically wrong or meaning changed. Rober had exactly 500 slaves. how come 'more than' ? maybe he freed some of slaves of the other plantation owners?
